Dream Catcher

I made a dream catcher today, it's very easy; this is how I made mine.

You will need: a twig, hemp, beads, scissors and if desired; feathers, ribbons

first get a twig, I used one from a willow tree because they are very flexible, now bend it into a circle of your desired size.

next take your hemp and tie your twig in place. from there you wrap the twig in hemp all the way around so no twig is showing.
Now you loop the hemp around the inside of the circle making your way into the circle with your loops getting smaller. You can add bead or charms at any time or place.

finally you can use hemp, ribbon or any other material for the pieces that hang down. you can have just strips or braid them [whatever you prefer] you can continue adding beads or as I have done tie on feathers [ I found these feathers but you can buy packs of feathers that come in a variety of colors at craft stores]

and there you have your very own dream catcher

sweet dreams

Creative Outlet

I am now expressing my creativity through an art journal! The photo from my last post is not actuly done, I still need to do some journaling on the right page but I thought I'd share anyways. I hope to share most if not all my pages and when I have time I will post my previous pages. This is a great outlet for creativity and I highly recomend it, you don't have to be artistic or a fabulous writter, a journal is personal and should be for you, all you need to be able to do is express yourself. I might post a how-to for art journaling and put up some links aswell so stay tuned :)

innocent

I work with children every day all day. people say children are the innocent, the younger they are the more innocent they are. it's true they are innocent, but to what? the kids I work with are 4-6 and there is a fair share of crying each day because someone isn't sharing, they tripped and fell, someone pushed them, the list goes on. by this age they know everything isn't always fair, they know scrapped knees heal and they know that some people are nicer than others. if they already know the flaws in out world than how are they innocent? sure these are minor reflections of our society's problems but to a child little problems have the same impact as our big problems. so I ask again why do we view children as innocent?
